I’ve had lip filler before, how soon can I get it again?

Most patients get lip filler every 6 to 12 months to maintain their results.
There are some determining factors that we consider first. How long ago, what type of filler, and the technique used. In some cases, you might need to dissolve previously filled lips. Migration to surrounding tissue is common and can disrupt the outcome of lip filler.

I’ve heard that sometimes lips need to be dissolved to get lip filler again? Is this true, and why?

After 2 or 3 treatments or 2 to 3 years of getting lip filler, filler migration is evident and should be dissolved or cleaned up a little bit for best results.

Does lip filler injections hurt? What do you use for pain management?

Yes it can hurt, but we use topical numbing cream, and we do a dental block which makes it more comfortable.

Will I bruise or swell? How long does it last?

Most likely. Swelling is normal after injections and for several days after. Bruising is common and can last for a few days to weeks. It takes at least 2 weeks for the lips to fully heal. At which time, we have you come back to smooth out any lumps and bumps on the lips.
